Charles Fox, MHC-Intern

Background and Approach

I am a Master’s level Counselor-in-Training at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, specializing in family therapy. My counseling journey began as a child actor, where I faced many ups and downs, culminating in a BA in Humanities and Creative Writing from NYU. Personal and professional struggles, as well as a desire to help others, drove my transition to the craft of counseling in 2020. I have since worked with clients from all walks of life at Introspective Family Therapy and Arden Shore Child and Family Services, where I provided mental health counseling using a holistic, psychodynamic, and person-centered approach.

Personal Beliefs

I am passionate about holistic healing and am inspired by my artistic training and the work of mentors such as Byron Katie and Dan Allender. I firmly believe in the transformative power of therapy in helping people reconnect with themselves and their loved ones. My certification in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy from Brown University and his study of Psychodrama, MBSR, Breathwork, and Somatic Therapy reflects my commitment to goal-oriented, interdisciplinary clinical care. I also firmly believe in the healing power of nature, food, exercise, travel, play, and healthy sexuality.

Treatment Areas

My expertise extends to working with diverse clients, including adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families. I am well-versed in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, CBT, DBT, Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Spiritual Integration. I am dedicated to helping clients learn how to self-regulate, develop healthy habits, and understand their relationships at a deeper level. From this place of awareness, I believe anything is possible for my clients, personally and professionally, and am passionate about accompanying them on this journey.
